Vision of Contentment album announcement and first single
I am excited and honored to announce another forthcoming release on Leiter Records: ‘vision of contentment’ is the first collaborative album by myself and Maarten Vos. Mixed by Nils Frahm and mastered by Zino Mikorey, the LP contains eight brand-new compositions and arrives on July 19.(pre-order here )
"Most of the music was written and recorded last July after Joep and Maarten unpacked their gear—recording equipment, various synths, a cello—to join the upright piano awaiting them in a shed hidden away in the forest outside a small village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. Out of their sometimes-sombre work emerged a universal eulogy to what they call “finding comfort in the acceptance of the inevitable,” but the album represents far more than this. It’s also an astonishing personal tribute to Mark Brounen, a mutual friend and, in Joep's case, manager.
Today, the duo shares the first single, the deeply affecting ‘ 02:07 ’ — named after the hour the news about their friend’s passing arrived, and when they immediately turned to their instruments to put their feelings into music."
